It is a pretty well-known assumption (won’t go so far as to call it fact) that one of the primary reasons that Trump was actually motivated to run for President, and has such a targeted dislike for President Obama, was Obama’s dismantling of Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in 2011.
You can see a clip and a story outline of the event here.
So when Trumpski gets a chance to take the podium, and level his own brand of “humor” at the Press corp, one would assume that he would join in the “good-natured ribbing” that has been a tradition for decades. But, noooooooooooooooooooo….
Once again, Trump is the first POTUS in 30 years to take a pass on the event… in essence blackballing himself from his own media opportunity. Perhaps he feels bad for excluding some of the representatives of targeted news media this past week. (I’ll wait for you to stop laughing).
But, it is far more likely, he is just, plain CHICKEN.
While his buddies, Vladimir (the impaler) Putin, Rodrigo Duterte, and Bashar al-Assad have a much more direct way of dealing with Press who may disagree with them, at least for the time being, Trumpski hasn’t been able to muster all of the power he needs to have the First Amendment altered to the point of “killing the humor” that may happen at this kind of event.
In an AP story yesterday, “Sarah Huckabee Sanders, deputy White House press secretary, suggested Sunday that the escalating tension between President Donald Trump and the reporters who cover him prompted him not to attend the upcoming White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“I think it’s kind of naive of us to think that we can all walk into a room for a couple of hours and pretend that some of that tension isn’t there,” Sanders told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on “This Week.”
SOME TENSION?? I’ll go with that…if “some” is used like you would in the same sentence as “some people think that Trump is a humorless, sociopathic, narcissist.”
So far…I haven’t seen a lot of humor out of the great orange one. He knows what “Isn’t Funny,” (SNL, most of Comedy Central, and anyone on CNN), but he apparently isn’t ready to reveal his comic timing in front of a room full of microphones.
Maybe he should take a cue from his Trump University public speaking course, and learn how to disarm your adversaries by showing up for the event. Nothing says, “I AM THE GREATEST!” like showing up for the fight. Right Donny?
Sorry to burst your bubble Patric but I don’t agree with you… you’re not complex… well in my eyes anyway, I think you are quite normal, and I rather like you and your ramblings.
I look forward to reading your comments, which I see as honest, provocative, sincere and well thought out, yes it could be said that you are a shit stirrer, but I consider you a honest shit stirrer, a man of character, I like your cut, and any one should be very happy to know you, and proud to call you a friend.
Keep on tapping!
Well…I guess we all have our place in life. I stir?
I will be following this up soon…it’s been an interesting week, and I would have to say that “the people” are starting to have an impact. More to come.
