So. Yeah. The debate.

Problem #1, is that the people who SHOULD be watching it, most likely won’t. The election is going to be won or lost from people “in the middle” (depending on what you call the middle). The ideological siloes are hardened. Leaving a pretty small margin for error.

Problem #2- People are being inundated with misinformation from almost every source, and Kamala, or any of her supporters, end up spending all of their time refuting the batshit stuff coming out of Trump’s mouth, and from his “influencers.”

There are two ridiculous stories circulating. One from Trump, the other from his REAL billionaire buddy, Elon Musk.

Both are batshit crazy. But, the MAGA-Heads are lapping it up. And Trump’s handlers know that diverting the public from what really matters, is as easy as serving up a big serving of BS pie.

Let’s take a look.

The first one comes from Donny, but is likely a direct “truthiness” from QAnon, or one of the scummy advisors on his team.

Both in interviews, and on the campaign trail, Trump repeated his false claim that children are undergoing transition-related surgery during their school day, worsening fears among some conservatives that educators are pushing children to become transgender and aiding transitions without parental awareness.

“Can you imagine you’re a parent and your son leaves the house and you say, ‘Jimmy, I love you so much, go have a good day in school,’ and your son comes back with a brutal operation? Can you even imagine this? What the hell is wrong with our country?” Trump said Saturday at a campaign rally in Wisconsin, a vital swing state.

Trump made similar remarks — saying children were returning home from school after having had surgical procedures — the previous weekend at an event hosted by Moms for Liberty, a parent activist group that has gained outsized influence in conservative politics in recent years.

Asked by one of the group’s co-founders how he would address the “explosion in the number of children who identify as transgender,” Trump said: “Your kid goes to school and comes home a few days later with an operation. The school decides what’s going to happen with your child.”

But then he doubled down…no doubt combining his gender talk with the insanity that comes from his advisor (and Project 2025 supporter) white supremacist, Stephen Miller. “You would be hard to think you would come up with taxpayer-funding gender transitions for detained migrants.” (word salad as usual…but right out of Donny’s mouth).

INSANE. 

I’m married to a elementary school counselor. I can assure you that the least of the problems she sees in school, has to do with gender identity. Abuse, neglect, drug use by parents…yes. But the school taking the kids away for days for surgery?  Uhm…no. They don’t keep resident surgeons on staff, and keeping a kid for a few days may raise a bit of suspicion with law enforcement.

#2 Elon Musk’s claims that the Democrats are shipping in millions of illegal aliens to vote for the election.  He tweets it to his millions of followers…on a platform he owns, and then takes it down after a few hours to evade scrutiny and regulators.

In a recent Washington Post article it was stated, “Between his purchase of Twitter and Thursday, Musk’s 52 posts or reposts about noncitizen voting — one of the main topics of false or misleading election claims he made in that time period — drew almost 700 million views, according to a Post analysis.
